Smart homes are still being a thing of the future but recently we have seen more and more companies that create products that meet right into this category either fire alarms, thermostats and even blisters. Today I have an LED bulb that LIFX Wifi can be controlled from your smartphone and comes packed with features.
Design: The bulb of LIFX is 5.3 inches long which makes it much larger than that of its competitors with the Philips Hue measures only 4 inches in length. In terms of design LIFX bulb has a plastic body and with the LED also covered by a thin white plastic. In choice of colors, you can choose between a body color Pearl White or Grey Metal. The rounded design looks great and in my opinion, would be better if it was just a little small - but this is certainly the first class look.
However, if you have Nest products installed in your home as follows protect or thermostat then LIFX bulbs seamlessly integrate with them. If your Nest Protect happens to be set off by a fire then your LIFX bulbs blink red and warn you of danger. This is incredibly useful for those who are hard of hearing and could save lives. Similarly, when the Nest thermostat is in operating mode 'away' your LIFX bulbs can make it look like someone's house and automatically turning your lights throughout the house.
Another great benefit is that these bulbs do not need a bridge to be used unlike Hue. This makes their installation much quicker and simpler than its direct connection instead of being filled by another device. LIFX state that the LED head should last 40,000 hours or 25 years.
